Going to the Doctor
Introduction
As a REDEEM® HealthShare member, there are no networks which means you get to choose which provider you want to see. Your healthcare is in your hands. You have the flexibility to choose a provider or hospital without restrictions.
Information
This overview provides you with best practices about planning your medical visit and submitting bills.
Before Scheduling a Medical Visit
Follow these best practices:
- If you are new to REDEEM HealthShare, then for the first 90 days of your membership, only bills resulting from injury, acute illness, or accident are eligible for sharing regardless of program selection.
- If you suspect your provider might be unfamiliar with health sharing organizations, complete the Provider Education Request form and someone from REDEEM HealthShare will contact the provider on your behalf.
At the Time of Your Medical Visit
Follow these best practices:
- Present your REDEEM HealthShare membership card to your medical provider first.
- Your provider should submit your bill electronically using the EDI number located on the back of the membership card.
Note: If your provider is unfamiliar with health sharing organizations, then have the office call the toll-free number on the back of your member card with any questions.
- Inform the provider to send the bills within 12 months from the date you receive the service to be eligible for sharing.
REDEEM HealthShare understands that 1) not all providers use an electronic system, 2) technical difficulties may arise when making the submission, or 3) you may have paid your medical bill directly to your provider. For times when you need to upload your bills through the Member Center, see Submit a Medical Bill.
