States Requiring Health Insurance

Introduction

 It is important to check your state requirements and potential penalties for not having health insurance. Members must not declare that any REDEEM® HealthShare program is insurance to avoid purchasing insurance required by law, rule, or regulation. 

Example: worker’s compensation insurance or sports activity insurance.

Information

 Members of qualifying health care sharing ministries like Samaritan® Classic, Samaritan® Basic, and Redeem HealthShare do not have to pay these penalties because they are exempt from the insurance coverage requirement.  

Locations requiring health insurance:

• California
• Massachusetts
• New Jersey
• Rhode Island
• Vermont (reporting requirement only, no penalty)
• Washington, D.C.
