States Requiring Health Insurance

It is important to check your state requirements and potential penalties for not having health insurance. Members must not declare that REDEEM® HealthShare is insurance to avoid purchasing insurance required by law, rule, or regulation.

Example: worker’s compensation insurance or sports activity insurance.

Information

Members of health sharing organizations, like REDEEM HealthShare Ministry may have an exemption from these penalties because these states may consider health sharing a form of meeting the coverage requirement under certain state laws.

Locations requiring health insurance:

• California
• Massachusetts
• New Jersey
• Rhode Island
• Vermont (reporting requirement only, no penalty)
• Washington, D.C.
