Understanding a split bill

There may come a time when REDEEMâ„¢ HealthShare must split bills you submitted. A split bill occurs when submitted bills 1) involve service dates that span across more than one month or 2) include services or charges for more than one family member or individual.

REDEEM HealthShare splits bills to process and share eligible charges according to the anniversary date of your membership participation in REDEEM HealthShare. REDEEM HealthShare shares your charges and services according to:

  • applicable sharing limits.
  • restrictions.
  • permitted sharing levels based on your membership program.

To determine if you have a split bill, follow these steps:

  1. Sign into the Member Center.
  2. In the menu, click My Medical Bills.
  3. Click Monitor Bills. The Needs for [your household] page will open. At the top center there are three tabs: Submitted, Processing, and Completed.
  4. Click the Processing tab. It displays the original bill, plus the split bills (these are not duplicates of the original). Each split bill has a distinct bill number assigned.
  5. Click the Completed tab. Both processed bills and split bills display. In addition, each processed bill includes an Explanation of Sharing (EOS). The EOS on each bill corresponds to the charges to the member or date of service represented on the bill.

REDEEM HealthShare shares eligible charges according to reference-based pricing.
