Understanding Your Annual Unshareable Amount

Introduction

The Annual Unshareable Amount (AUA) is the dollar amount you must pay toward your own eligible medical bills during each membership year before eligible bills can be shared.

A membership year is the 12-month period that begins on the effective date of your current membership.

The effective date is the first day of the month your current membership year begins. If you make changes because of a qualifying life event, your effective date and membership year might change.

After your household meets the AUA and the co-share (if applicable), then REDEEM HealthShare can publish the eligible medical bills for sharing.

A bill applies to the AUA for the membership year in which the date of service occurred, regardless of when you submit the bill. If the date of service falls in a different membership year than your current membership year, then the bill applies to the AUA year associated with the date of service, not the current membership year.

Example: If your current membership year is May 2026 through April 2027 and you submit a bill in June 2026 with an April 2026 date of service, then the bill applies to your May 2025 through April 2026 membership year.

Important: Ineligible bills do not contribute to your AUA.

You can change your AUA on the anniversary of your membership date or if you have a qualifying life event. A switching fee applies. For information about your AUA, see Guidelines – 5.4 Changing Programs.
